Hey everyone, We've been reading your comments and adding some of our own and we're so glad that you're finding this a useful site to express your views, frustrations and shopping experiences. Just a quick note - whenever you think about writing something negative about your body, try to find something positive to focus on instead. We definitely want you all to be real and honest but we only have one body and one life - let's celebrate the great things about that. Magazines are full of pictures and articles that will tell you what's wrong with your body but there aren't a lot of places that you can go to think about and believe in the positive. It might be that you have fantastic ankles, or eyes or a great butt! It's not vain to love a part or all of yourself. It's the first step in feeling good about who you are and walking tall. Let's also support each other in this. You are all beautiful! We KNOW how hard it is to find clothes that fit. That's why we opened our shop and we're continually striving to find more great items for you. It's important that you give us feedback about the things you're looking for. Make sure you also give feedback to the stores you love and tell them what you love about them. That's where we can all make a difference. bodaciously, Lorna & Barb

On the subject of loving our bodies and maintaining a healthy self-image - I was a skinny girl for years and hated my body, primarily because I was skinny because my family was poor. My flat chest, my flat tummy and my twig-like arms and legs were from hunger rather than intentional dieting. When I finally got out on my own and started being able to take care of myself and most importantly, feed myself, I quickly gained weight and now I loooooove my body. I may not be the Kitsilano-chic skinny-chick that's "in" here in Vancouver, but to have the luxury of being concerned about what I eat, or if I eat too much, after not having enough to eat is such an amazing thing. Not that I bother worrying about it all that much- 'cause being able to have Haagen Daaz AND boobs makes me very happy. So I gotta say, I love my curves, 'cause to me they represent my ability to feed and care for myself, and not having to feel those hunger pangs again.

I don't know why we women have such issues with the way we look. I constantly hear women complaining about their bodies, hair, faces, etc. We rarely compliment ourselves, and feel that the only way to be beautiful is to look like a model. Why do women do this to themselves? When I tell people that I'm perfectly happy with the way that I am, they are suprised. It's saddening that their lack of self confidence affects all women in a negative way.
I LOVE MY FLESHY BODY! I AM NOT ASHAMED!

As anon said, this is even a worse problem in Vancouver. Skinny i sin, but I'd rather look like a woman! I think the worst thing is that "curvy" is perceived to mean fat. You have to have a loooot of flesh to be unhealthily fat, so rather than just havnig squishy female bodies, like we're SUPPOSED to have, girls & women around van go for the super scrawny, bedraggled boyl ook (and the vancouverite men love it...ick). Well I have t&a and I effin love it!
