Help! I'm looking for a pair of comfy, stylish, knee high dress boots with a wide calf. In the past I have always found what I need at the downtown Nordstrom's in Seattle. But I'd really prefer to keep my money in Canada, and save the duty by buying locally. Any suggestions? I haven't found what I seek in the lowermain land. I am especially partial to the Clark's Indigo boots out this fall.

I haven't had any luck here. I bought a pair of stretch fabric ones from Pegabo and they always fall down. Dpending on your calf size, some retail outlets (Aldo and Stone RIdge) will stretch your boots for you if you only need them a couple of inches bigger.

I know that most people won't want to take the time to do this but it worked for me and I love my boots. I looked for 5 years for knee high black boots for fall and could never find anything that was wide enough in the calf area. I don't have a huge leg and my feet are fairly small but because of many years of swimming and cycling in my teens I have fairly muscular calves. A friend of mine that works at Feet First gave me this tip. Find a pair of leather boots that you like, it has to be softer leather because the really hard rigid kind won't work. If you can zip the boot up to the spot where your calf starts to widen, you then scrunch the leather down and continue to zip the boot up. If you are able to do this until you can completely do the zipper up, then the boots will eventually stretch from your body heat and slide right up your leg. I would get them to stretch the boots first and then try this and wear the boots as much as you can to stretch them in quickly. Now if doing this doesn't appeal to you, or you need them to fit right away, take them to a cobbler and get them to insert a stretchy wedge into the boot along the seam, they can usually be done in a few hours and aren't too expensive. I never recommend those fake pleather stretch boots because if you have a large calf already, they just hug that and make your legs look even bigger and they curve in a the ankle and foot which adds to the illusion. Good Luck Oh and I heard that there is a store that caters to cross dressers, mostly men who need shoes and boots with much wider widths and sizes it is some type of fetish store in Vancouver but I haven't been able to locate it yet.
