You're so right. I live in the burbs so I never really thought about it before. I used to shop downtown, Robson, all the time when I was younger. Now, why bother, there's so many good stores, but nothing for me. It's really dissapointing. (Except for the Bay downtown, which is usually the only Bay I buy clothes at).

Now that Pennington's closed in Vancouver, I am at a loss for stores to buy clothing at. I wear 26/28, and Sears/The Bay, etc. only go to 24!! The burbs is a really long trip on transit....esp. when you don't have a car. I can't believe that in the 3RD LARGEST CITY IN CANADA, a store like Penningtons doesn't see fit to keep a location open. Any hints on finding work clothes in 26/28 downtown would be appreciated. Thanks.

There isn't anywhere downtown, unfortunately. Winners does stock some plus sizes, as well as the Bay and Sears, and that's about it. Bittersweet on Davie now carries plus sizes, however I can tell you right now without having tried on the bottoms that their biggest plus size bottom is probably a size 16/18, even though it's advertised as a 3X. The tops are a bit more generous fitting, but the 1X is like a regular sized women's XL. I've got a smaller top than bottom so I can do the Bittersweet tops, but I always head to Addition-Elle, Reitmans and Penningtons on the North Shore. Park Royal is a quick bus ride away from downtown so you might have some luck over there. The closest Pennington's would be accessible by the 98 b-line to Richmond, or a two bus ride to Park and Tilford (there's an Encore section at Reitmans though, so it makes the trip worth it). I've resigned myself to finding one or two good pairs of jeans, a decent black pair, and then I snazz up my wardrobe with cute tops. And fun jewelry. I guess we just have to focus on what we can control and let go of what we can't! I'd love if there was a funky, AFFORDABLE, plus size shop downtown...but there isn't, so I travel.
